{Mothers Day : Tea Bag Biscuits}

I have been dying to share these Mothers Day treats with you.

{I started typing the recipe for the tart i made for dessert in this post also, but ran out of room....Pear and Ricotta Tart Recipe Coming soon}

I always love handmade gifts. They often cost a lot less and are a great way to show someone special how much they mean to you. Gifts for my mother and mother in law  this year were very simple. But it was so adorable it hit the spot perfectly!

1. Make up a biscuit dough. You could use anything from vanilla biscuit to a gingerbread. I chose a shortbread with a pinch of salt that balanced and complimented the chocolate perfectly {click here for recipe}
2. Once dough is rolled flat, cut out little rectangle shapes the size of tea bags (bottom left photo shows me actually using one to cut around).
3. Transfer to baking sheet, chop the corners off the top and make a hole with a bamboo skewer. Bake according to instructions in recipe.
4. When cooled, tie some bakers twine around the top and leave a length to imitate the tea bag string.
5. Then, chop some chocolate (best you can afford) into small chunks, melt in the microwave in small bursts,  then dip the biscuits into the melted chocolate. Set aside to set.

Now you can leave the string as is and pop into a little gift bag. Or You can add a little 'tag' onto the end to mimic the label on a tea bag. You can use plain paper, scrapbooking card-stock, or fabric scraps. I used red felt in a heart shape and simply stapled it on. It added a cute colour burst, a beautiful texture difference and the heart was perfect for the occasion.

I hope your Mothers Day was special and wherever you were you got to share some special time with those you love.
